Jennifer is a wedding and lifestyle photographer based in the Minneapolis Metro area who believes that creating a good friendship with her clients is the most important thing. She credits this relationship building with the relaxed and uninhibited feel to her photographs.

Jennifer participated in our “meet the members” Q&A – her answers appear below

How does your style differentiate you? My style is very playful and artistic. When working with the couple, my goal is to make natural and interesting photos of them. I do this by having both a knack for photojournalism (I have experience working for a newspaper) and having a creative editorial eye. I initially direct the couple and then capture their relationship and idiosyncrasies in a visually appealing way.

What wedding tradition would you like to see get more love? Themes! I LOVE it when a bride puts together a theme for her wedding. It gives the wedding an identity and mood. I’m a detail person and I love photographing all of those little details.

Why weddings? I love photographing weddings because it’s people photography and I love people. Weddings also allow me to have creative freedom. All my couples trust my vision and over the years I’ve had tremendous amounts of fun photographing couples and wedding parties in all sorts of locations and settings. With weddings, you can be as creative as you want, or as stiff as you want. I choose to be as creative as I can!

What should people know about what you do? I am a full-time photographer specializing in wedding and lifestyle photography. I believe that it’s important for every photographer to have a forte. There are many types of photography and while certain skills overlap, I believe that it’s important to hire a full-time wedding photographer rather than a some- times wedding photographer. The skill set to anticipate important moments and the ability to handle different lighting situations at a wedding takes a lot of practice and consistency…something that a some-times photographer may not have experience with.

What is your favorite part of a wedding? I have come to enjoy all parts of a wedding because each part offers different types of photos to be made. I love working with the couple and getting fun, natural photos of them in a unique way. I also love capturing those ephemeral emotional moments that bring you back to that time and place.
